WAITING FOR MY WIFE TO FEEL HAPPY AGAIN
I can’t begin to tell you how much I miss my wife
without being drenched in tears.
I go for a hike up the Bear Mountain Fire Tower Lookout
with my absent but present wife. She admires her favorite
ferns and wildflowers as we listen to sounds of cicadas,
and Okalee calls of Red Winged Blackbirds she loved so well.
I can decipher a message she sent with them for me
to not overdo rock climbing, and be sure to wear sunscreen.
I’m sure my time in the wilderness made her feel happy again.
